Sudan as a huge country with sixteen States, each has its own capital related to hundreds of small towns and a considerable amount of villages, most of them are not planned, designed or even architecturally studied, i.e. the vernacular architecture is not known yet.
Although, there are over fourteen Departments of Architecture and Planning, and the numbers of graduated students (so far in the Sudan) are approximately 4300 architects and very few planners and designers; the country is of great need for these specialisations to carry on the development in the areas of planning, re-planning, designing and improving the environments of most people of the Sudan.
Thus Sudan International University (SIU) will start the plan to fill the gap in the arenas of such specialisations, and which will be the beginning point of a real sustainable development for the rural and urban areas of the Sudan, by imposing more specialised architects and designers. The college is looking for the quality of specialisations.
The Ministry of Higher Education in the Sudan is interested in such type of education to enhance its quality and broad out the area of it, to reach every part of the Sudan. The aims and objectives of these specialisations will service the thinking of enhancing the educational systems in the Sudan, either by quality or quantity.
However, the need for more qualified people in such areas enhances the quality of the environment and even raises the standard of health quality and increases the opportunities for more decent jobs.
